It's McGonage & DeMaria in November!

The results of the preliminary election are in; Ward 6 Alderman Joe McGonagle and Alderman at Large Carlo DeMaria will face off in November to become the next Mayor of Everett. In what may very well be a first in Everett politics, a mayoral incumbent has been defeated in a preliminary election.

The next two months will be crucial to both candidates as they get their respective messages out. We believe the tax issue in 2005 and yesterday's results tell the same story. It's the taxes. With Everett facing record home foreclosures, and the economy starting to soften...now would be a good time to talk about real plans for Everett's economic future and not just bash each other.

In other Primary news, Wayne Matewsky topped the ticket in the Alderman-at-Large race, with Joanne Gregory placing second. Salvatore Sachetta topped it in the Ward 6 Alderman race, with Catherine Tomassi Hicks coming in second.
